POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. - Grace's volleyball team collected its third straight win on Thursday at the 2023 NCCAA National Championships.
The Lancers (22-11) handled Mid-America Christian 3-0 in the final game of pool play; it marked Grace's third sweep in a row at NCCAA Nationals.
The win finishes Grace at the top of its pool. As a result, the Lancers will play in the national semifinals on Friday against the host school, the College of the Ozarks. The semifinal match is set for 7 p.m. (Eastern Time).
The semifinal winners will battle for the NCCAA national championship banner on Saturday at 2 p.m. (ET).
The first set was a battle. The sides were even at 14-14, but Katie Swanson picked up a kill and a block to give Grace a small cushion.
After a few attack errors by MACU, Liz Schmidt served up an ace to hand the Lancers a 20-15 lead.
Kills down the stretch from Morgan Syoen, Alisha Leffring and Jadyn Ross helped Grace lock up the 25-20 victory.
Livia Tate was a force in the set, picking up four block points to stunt the Evangels' attack.
The second set had a similar story. The score was tied again at 14s, but a 4-1 spurt gave Grace a boost. Swanson had two kills during that run.
The set ended with Grace winning five of the final six points, ending with a kill from Sahara Bee for a 25-18 victory.
The Evangels did their best to extend the match, grabbing an 11-6 lead early in the third set. Grace countered with a 6-1 run to even the score.
MACU scored four points late in the set, serving for the set at 24-22.
But a well-placed timeout from head coach Katie Hill let Grace recover. Ross picked up a kill on the next play, and the Evangels then committed an error to send the set to extra points.
Tate smashed a kill on the next rally to put the Lancers on top, and Bee ended the match with a kill down the line. Grace won the set 26-24 to conclude pool play.
Leffring finished the match with nine kills and four block assists, and Swanson had nine kills and three block assists.
Tate finished with five block assists and four kills, Bee had 4 kills, 5 block assists, and 4 digs, and Ross tallied 7 kills, 2 aces and 12 digs.
Riley Owens finished with 15 assists and three digs, and Syoen had 14 assists with five digs.

The Lancers are making their seventh trip to the national semifinals in team history. Grace is in pursuit of its second national title in program history after winning the NCCAA title in 1995.
