Grace sets regular season record

WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace's women's basketball picked up a record breaking victory, with a 69-56 win over Goshen on Wednesday night.

The win was the Lady Lancers' 19th of the season which sets a new program mark for regular season wins.

Karlee Feldman once again set the tone for the Lady Lancers with another dominant performance. Fresh off her seventh Crossroads League Player of the Week award, Feldman had a massive 25 point,18 rebound double-double.

Feldman made her presence felt from the opening tip as the junior center scored a layup just five seconds into the game.

Goshen could not stop Maddie Ryman in the middle portion of the quarter as Ryman rattled off eight straight points for the Lady Lancers.

Ryman and Feldman combined for 16 points in the first quarter as Grace carried a 22-11 advantage into the second stanza.

After a jump shot from Peyton Murphy and a pair of free throws from Kaylee Patton, the Lady Lancers lead reached as many as 16 points.

Grace's offense slowed in the latter portions of the half, hitting one shot over the final five minutes.  Goshen was able to chip away at the deficit and by the half had pulled within 38-29.

At the intermission, Feldman had already amassed a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

The Lady lancers also held a clear advantage on the boards where they outr ebounded the Maple Leafs 25-14.

The start of the second was a mirror image to that of the first, as Feldman again scored just seconds after the ball was put back into play.

The Maple Leafs were able to continue the momentum from their late first half run, as the Grace's lead continued to dwindle.

Four-straight points from Feldman and another trifecta from Ryman saw the lead bolstered back to double-digits.

Goshen answered with an 8-0 run of their own to claw back within three points as the game entered the final quarter.

Once again Grace's defense rose to the occasion in the 4th quarter to seal another victory for the Lady Lancers.

Goshen was held to just five points in the fourth quarter, and went a stretch of  6:29 without a score.

Patton had seven points in the fourth quarter as Grace iced away the 69-56 victory.

"This was a great way to close out the home portion of the regular season," said Grace's head coach Dan Davis. "We know that Coach Miller is always going to have her teams ready to battle every night and that's what they gave us tonight. So proud of how our team competed from the opening whistle and never gave away the lead. We showed a lot of poise tonight."

Feldman added three blocks and two steals to go along with her 25 point, 18 rebound double-double.

Ryman poured in 20 points and shot 50 percent from beyond the arc. Patton also added a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Grace will be in action again on Saturday as they travel to St. Francis for a 1 p.m. showdown.
