GREENCASTLE, Ind. - Grace's women's tennis team came up just short in an afternoon match at DePauw on Saturday, falling 4-3 on the road.
Saturday's match kicked off Grace's spring schedule; it was held at DePauw's Indoor Tennis and Track Center.
Grace jumped out ahead after claiming the doubles' point. Jimena Ramirez and Maria Sandoval pulled out a narrow 8-6 win at the top doubles' court.
Anna Graves and Jenna Lewis also produced a win at No. 3 doubles by the score of 8-4.
In singles' play, however, Grace could only find victory at two courts. Lewis earned her second win of the day at No. 6 singles, battling from behind to win in three (2-6, 6-4, 6-0).
Lydia Ruegsegger replicated that effort, rallying from one set down to win with a scoreline of 1-6, 6-2, 6-2.
DePauw managed to rally in the match, however, winning at No. 1, 2, 4 and 5 singles to secure the team victory.
The Lady Lancers are just beginning their spring slate. Grace is poised to play at St. Francis (Ill.) on Monday for the next outing.
