JOLIET, Ill. - Grace's women's tennis team continued its spring season against Saint Francis (Ill.) on Monday afternoon, falling 6-1.
The Lady Lancers held an early advantage after taking the doubles' point to lead off the match.
Jimena Ramirez and
Alejandra Sandoval paired together at No. 1 doubles, winning their matchup 7-6.
The doubles' point was secured when
Anna Graves and
Jenna Lewis calmly knocked off their opponent 6-2 in the No. 3 spot.
The Saints, however, were dominant in singles play, taking all six points to pull away with the match.
Kiersten Martin, No. 5 singles, forced a third-set tiebreaker after splitting the first two sets of her match, 2-6, 6-3. In the tiebreaker, however, she fell 6-4.
Newcomer
Alejandra Sandoval put up a valiant effort at No. 4 singles, narrowly falling 7-5, 6-4.
The Lady Lancers will head to Indiana Tech to battle the Warriors on Friday, March 24. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
