WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace's women's tennis team dropped its match to 23rd-ranked Marian on Saturday afternoon. The 6-1 loss ended a three match winning streak for the Lancers.
The doubles point came down to the final pairing. Marian earned the first one, but
Jimena Ramirez and
Alejandra Sandoval brought it even with a 6-4 win at the No. 1 spot. The final doubles match came down to a tiebreaker to decide it with the Knights taking the point 7-6(2).
Jimena Ramirez provided the highlight for the Lancers with her third-set tiebreaker victory at No. 1 singles. After dropping the first set, she was able to battle back to take the second set and win 10-6 in the tiebreaker.
The Knights put the pressure on the home team to take five of the six available points to pull away.
Molli Runestad dropped a heartbreaker in her matchup, falling 4-6, 6-1, 6-10. She bounced back to send it to a tiebreaker, but couldn't come out on the winning side.
The Lancers will switch gears for a non-conference match at home against IU Kokomo on Sept. 18 at 5 p.m.
