NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Grace's women's tennis team battled with Saint Mary's on Monday afternoon, coming away with a 4-3 victory.
Saint Mary's earned the first point of the day as Grace dropped the doubles point for just the fourth time this season.
Lydia Ruegsegger and
Geraldine Salinas were able to win their match, but the Belles held the advantage at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
The Lancers turned things around quickly in singles action. Despite trailing 1-0, the next three points went to the visitors.
Jimena Ramirez evened the score with a 6-2, 6-2 scoreline on court one. Next, Salinas finished with a similar 6-2, 6-2 effort to put Grace ahead on the scoresheet. Ruegsegger increased the lead to two, winning 6-4, 6-2.
The Belles made things interesting by picking up points from No. 4 and No. 6 singles to level the score with one match still in progress.
Natalie Schoenherr came up clutch to secure the final point and give Grace the victory. She won in straight sets 6-4, 6-1.
Grace has one final match for the fall season on Oct. 9 against Judson at the Don Cramer Tennis Courts.
Jimena Ramirez and
Alejandra Sandoval will participate in the ITA Cup on Oct. 10-12, hosted by Berry College in Georgia.
