FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The hot streak for Grace's women's tennis team continued on Saturday with a 4-3 win at Indiana Tech.
The Lancers extended their winning streak to five straight matches, improving to 13-5 on the season.
The win marked Grace's first over Indiana Tech since 2018.
Grace has just one scheduled match left for the spring — at home against Oakland City on April 18. With a win, Grace would tie the program record for most victories in a single season.
Jimena Ramirez and Alejandra Sandoval registered a commanding 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles to begin the scoring. Geraldine Salinas and Lydia Ruegsegger won shortly after (6-2) at the top doubles' court to claim the early point for Grace.
The singles' matches were nailbiters. Sandoval put Grace ahead 2-0 with the Lancers' cleanest win of the day at No. 4 singles (6-1, 6-2).
Ramirez battled to a three-set victory at No. 1 singles to put Grace one point away from the team victory.
The Warriors rallied, however, with victories at No. 5 and No. 2 singles to set up a nervy finish.
But Salinas clinched Grace's win, beating her opponent at No. 3 by the score of 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
