MARION, Ind. - Grace's men's tennis team added another tally to the win column with a 7-0 sweep at Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. The 20th-ranked Lancers started the second half of the conference schedule in fine fashion, moving to 5-0 in the Crossroads League
Grace (5-0, 5-0 CL) took all three matches on the doubles courts, securing the first point of the match.
Pablo Gregori and
Salva Pons paired up in the No. 1 slot, picking up their match, 6-2.
Manuel Marques and
Roko Misura tacked on the all-important clincher 6-4, giving Grace the lead on the scoreboard.
Artur Pons and
Luis Cordoba finished doubles play with a 6-2 win.
In singles action, the Lancers continued to roll, winning each singles point in straight sets. The first two points came from No. 5 and No. 6 in the rotation.
Benjamin Rahine went 6-0, 6-2 in his matchup. Marques followed with a win, dropping just one game to win 6-0, 6-1.
Artur Pons tallied the deciding point, 6-2, 6-3 to give the visitors the victory. Â
With the necessary points secured,
Salva Pons won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 singles to make it 5-0. Gregori added the sixth point with a 7-5, 6-2 scoreline. The final point of the day went to
Luis Cordoba. He made it a clean sweep, going 6-4, 6-0 to cap off the day.
The Lancers will return home to battle the other unbeaten team in the conference standings. Grace will face off against Huntington on Monday, Sept. 16Â at 3 p.m.Â
