ALLENDALE, Mich. - Grace's women's tennis team finished its fall portion of the season with a 7-0 defeat on the road at Grand Valley State.
The Lancers had a challenging final match, squaring off with the 28th-ranked team in the final ITA ranking for NCAA Div. II last year.
Grace did not win a doubles' court, although Jimena Ramirez and Faith Valentine battled hard at No. 1 doubles before losing 6-4.
In singles' play, Ramirez and Valentine also impressed against top competitors. Ramirez dropped a 7-5, 6-4 match against her opponent at No. 1 singles. Valentine lost by a similar score (6-4, 7-5) at No. 2 singles. Molli Runestad also forced a long set at No. 4 singles (6-1, 7-5).
The spring season will feature the Crossroads League regular season; it's the first time the league has shifted to the spring in order to better align with the rest of the NAIA conferences. The conference season is currently scheduled to begin March 21.
