UPLAND, Ind. - Grace College's men's soccer team tied Taylor 2-2 on Wednesday night to close out the 2025 regular season.
With the tie, the Lancers (11-4-3, 5-3-1 Crossroads League) laid claim to third place in the conference and clinched a home match in the first round of the Crossroads league Tournament.
The lancers will host Marian at 5 P.M. on Tuesday night at 1st Source bank Field.
Grace was tied for third overall in the conference with St. Francis and Spring Arbor, but took the No. 3 seed by way of tiebreaker.
In Wednesday's matchup the Trojans (7-7-3, 1-5-3 CL) were the aggressors early. The Trojans had a flurry of chances early with two corner kicks and a dangerous chance that forced a save from
Pedro Galante.
Luis Munoz had Grace's first shot of the game in the 19th minute but he was unable to fit it through Taylor's defense.
The Trojans broke the ice with 10 minutes left in the half on a shot from midfield that bounced off a Grace defender and into the Lancers net to give the Trojans a one goal lead.
Juan Garcia had a shot on goal that forced a save from the Trojans keeper as the game entered the half with Taylor leading 1-0. Taylor held a 7-3 shot advantage and 4-0 edge in corner kicks.
The Trojans had the early chances again in the second half, but after the Lancers survived the early onslaught momentum seemed to swing in Grace's favor.
A corner kick led to shots from Garcia and
Diego Yanes but the game remained level.
The middle of the period was a back and forth affair. Grace had a trio of shots but none of them were able to make it on target.
As the game ticked under 10 minutes the Lancers were awarded a penalty kick  when Munoz was illegally tackled in the box.
Yanes was selected to take the PK for the Lancers and he calmly placed the ball just beyond the outstretched hands of the Trojan keeper to tie the game at one goal apiece. Less than two minutes later Grace scored again.
The Trojans tried to clear a dangerous ball from near the goal line, but the attempt fell to the feet of
Sebastian Lozano who crossed the ball right back towards goal where Yanes redirected it past the keeper to give Grace the lead.
The goal scoring would not stop there though Taylor answered back with five minutes left in regulation. The Trojans took advantage of a chaotic play in Grace's goal mouth to score the equalizer.
Taylor had one last attempt on goal in the waning moments but
Ben Kenn made the save to preserve the tie and help Grace secure the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament.
