LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Grace's women's tennis team began the 2025-26 season on Saturday with a pair of matches in Louisville.

The Lancers took on NCAA Div. II Thomas More and NCAA Div. I Bellarmine in back-to-back matches.

Grace began the season with a 5-2 win over Thomas More.

Grace won the doubles' point and nearly took all three doubles' courts. Jimena Ramirez and Faith Valentine cruised to a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, and Lauren Harris and Landry Schrock earned a 6-3 win at No. 3. Molli Runestad and Shannon Brumbaugh nearly won at No. 2 (7-6).

Ramirez rolled to another win at No. 1 singles, winning 6-2 and 6-1, and Harris pulled out a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 5.

Runestad won in straight sets at No. 4 singles, and Brumbaugh won Grace's final point at No. 6, producing a three-set winner (7-5, 4-6, 6-4).

The Lancers ended the day against D1 Bellarmine, losing 6-1. Grace was unable to get a win in doubles' matches, coming closest with 6-2 losses at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.

Ramirez earned a highlight by beating her D1 opponent at the top singles' position, battling from behind to win 4-6, 6-4, 10-6.

The Lancers will be in action again next week with the ITA Regional Tournament beginning on Wednesday.
