COLUMBIA, Mo. - Grace's cross country earn got to run at another high-profile race this week.
The Lancers took on the Gans Creek Classic, hosted by the University of Missouri. The course is a familiar one for Grace as it served recently as the host of the NAIA championship race.
The women's team placed sixth out of 20 teams in the 6k Open Race, and men were 13th in their 8k Open Race.
On the women's team, Cece Mitchell paced the team, crossing the finish line in 23:02.6 for 35th place. Tame Sigler was not far off that pace, grabbing a 42nd-place finish at 23:14.4.
Morgan Welch finished just outside the top-50 (53rd) with her race of 23:29.1.
Grace's next four ran in a pack; Addison Grady ended in 24:01.8, and she was quickly followed by Leah Emch (24:04.8), Grace Pettit (24:07.5) and Grace Geller (24:11.8).
The men were led by Hunter Quadlin; he finished 61st overall with a mark of 26:25.5.
Luis Loera was second on the squad in 27:05.5. He led a tight pack, which included Aden McCarty (27:13.7), John Young (27:14.2) and Reid Sollars (27:17.8).
The top-seven runners were rounded out by Ryun Hoffert (27:56.7) and Jace Bullins (28:08.6).
The Lancers will race again next Friday at the Nike XC Town Twilight in Terre Haute, Ind.
