RIO GRANDE, Ohio - The offensive machine known as Grace's women's soccer team continued to dominate on Wednesday.
The Lancers tallied nine goals in a 9-0 shutout of Rio Grande on the road.
Grace (5-0), the highest-scoring team in the country, has outscored opponents 33-0 this year.
During Wednesday's match, Grace spread the wealth. The Lancers had six goal scorers, highlighted by three goals and two assists from Nora Pollock.
Rylee Burns was a key contributor early, recording an assist on each of Grace's first three goals.Â
The first goal came in the 15th minute. Abby Hodkin and Burns connected on the right side of the field, sending a cross into the box where Pollock was waiting for a simple tap-in finish.
Grace scored its second in the 23rd minute. Burns beat a defender on the right edge of the field and crossed again; this time Rosalie Gefrorer finished the goal.
Less than two minutes later, the Lancers struck again. Grace won possession in the middle of the field and attacked with lightning speed. Burns led Pollock with a pass, and the freshman beat the keeper for her second tally.
For the fourth goal, Audrey Abel assisted to Cassidy Felger for Felger's ninth goal of the year.
Grace added one more goal before the half. Pollock received the ball off a corner kick and sent a laser just beneath the crossbar, sending the Lancers into halftime with a 5-0 lead.
The game went into a lengthy weather delay shortly into the second half. When play resumed, Grace's goal-scoring prowess continued along.
The Lancers scored off another corner kick five minutes into the second half. Abel's corner found Zoe Mueller in the box, and Mueller's glancing header bounced into the back of the net.
Just two minutes later, Ellie Grieser and Gefrorer combined on a give-and-go. Grieser completed the thought when she drilled in her goal with a shot off the goalpost.
The eighth goal came courtesy of Joya Lienammer as Grace attacked through the heart of Rio Grande's defense.
The final tally came off a corner kick, Grace's third goal off a set piece in the match. Pollock picked out Mueller who scored off the corner to wrap up the 9-0 scoreline.
Grace enjoyed a dominant 20-1 shot advantage. The Lancers also had the only seven corner kicks in the outing.
Pollock enjoyed her first collegiate hat trick in the win. She also has multiple assists in three of Grace's five matches.
Abel (four assists) and Burns (three assists) were elite catalysts on offense, Mueller netted twice, and Gefrorer tallied a goal and an assist.
Ivy Cline recorded the shutout without needing to make a save. Grace's defense has posted five straight shutouts to kick off the season.
The Lancers return home on Saturday for a high-profile match. Grace will host No. 25 St. Ambrose on Saturday at 5 p.m.
