GOSHEN, Ind. - Grace College's women's basketball team closed out the first half of Crossroads League play with a 94-78 victory over Goshen on Saturday afternoon.

Grace had a strong first quarter, scoring 32 points in the opening frame.
Maddy Poynter connected on a trifecta on the first possession of the game and then Sperry added three more the old-fashioned way, finishing through contact and adding the free throw.
Another 3 points from Sperry, these coming the conventional way, had Grace ahead 11-4 three minutes into the game.
Goshen (3-16, 0-9 CL) managed to cut the deficit down to two points but they had no answer for Sperry who was red hot from beyond the arc. The sophomore had two more 3-point field goals and was fouled on a third attempt. Sperry hit all three ensuing tries at the charity stripe to put Grace ahead 24-15.
Sperry added another trifecta to close out the quarter as Grace led 32-19. Sperry outscored Goshen by herself with 20 points in the opening stanza.
Becca Gerdt had the first four points of the second frame and

Braylin Terrell broke the cold spell with just over two minutes left in the half.
Goshen took advantage of Grace's drought, cutting the lead down to nine points. A couple of successful trips to the charity stripe for the Lancers in the final minute sent the game into the intermission with Grace ahead 51-39.
Grace and Goshen traded scores to open the second half but the Maple Leafs buckets were from behind the arc allowing them to chip away at the deficit.
Goshen pulled to as close as seven points before Poynter found her touch from deep to push the lead back to double digits.
The Maple Leafs mustered another run and this time cut the lead to six points but Grace found success at the free throw line to maintain the lead.
The Lancers scored six consecutive points at the charity stripe including two from Sperry with 1:31 left in the quarter.
Sperry's free throws were her first points of the game since her 20-point first frame and she quickly added three more as she closed out the frame with her fifth trifecta of the game.
The Lancers led 75-65 as the fourth quarter got underway. The Maple Leafs had the first four points of the frame but the Lancers matched and a shot from range from Terrell had Grace ahead by 13.
Sperry was fouled behind the arc and scored on all three shots at the line to increase the lead and give Grace a stranglehold on the game.
The Lancers sealed the game with their defensive effort, allowing just five points over the final 5:34 to secure the 94-79 win.
Grace shot 45 percent on the game and 36 percent from beyond the arc. Goshen shot 36 percent and 34 percent in the same categories.
Sperry was spectacular for Grace with 32 points, 8 rebounds, 4 blocks, 1 assist and a steal. She was a perfect 13-13 from the line.
