Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer stumbles at Marian

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Grace's men's soccer team was unable to earn a result on the road on Saturday.

The Lancers fell 2-0 at Marian, coming up short on the offensive end.

To start the match, Marian immediately attacked. The Knights had two shots and two corner kicks over the first three minutes.

Grace's first attempts came in the 12th and 15th minutes. Marvin Jaeger and Sebastian Lozano each had shots that went wide of the goal.

Marian's go-ahead moment came in the 25th minute. Marian crossed from the right side of the field, and the Knights quickly sliced a low shot inside the far post.

Nine minutes later, Grace's deficit doubled. The Knights scored again from a cross on the right side, this time meeting the cross with a header to make the score 2-0.

The Knights outshot the Lancers 11-4 in the first half and had a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.

Neither side was able to add another tally after halftime.

With 17 minutes remaining, Grace generated its first offensive chance of the second half with a corner kick.

With four minutes left, Noah Ballard unleashed a hard strike that was saved.

A few minutes later, Knox Ritter tried a shot which rolled right of the goal frame.

The Lancers continued to be muted offensively down the stretch, and Grace had to settle for the defeat.

Ballard led Grace with two shot attempts, and Eric Favere also registered a shot on goal.

The Lancers' next match will be a meeting at home against Bethel on Oct. 10.
