WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace's men's tennis team continued its strong play, completing a perfect week of Crossroads League action.
The Lancers defeated Bethel 5-2 on Saturday to polish off a 3-0 week. Grace (11-6, 6-1 CL) sits in second place in the league standings with two games remaining in the regular season.
The Pilots got off to a better start thanks to winning the doubles' point. Manuel Marques and Andreas Polichronopoulos earned a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles, but Bethel grabbed the first two courts to take the point.
The Lancers quickly flipped the script with a dominant run in singles. Grace won five of the six courts, including four of those in straight sets.
Benjamin Rahine earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, and Stergios Papadopoulos had a similar score (6-2, 6-3) at No. 6.
Marques produced a 6-2, 7-6 victory at No. 4 singles, Mahefa Rakotomalala was a 6-4, 6-0 victor at No. 5. Aurelien Coan was the lone three-set winner at No. 3 (6-4, 3-6, 6-4).
The Lancers wrap up the league season next week, playing at No. 23 Goshen on Wednesday and at Spring Arbor on Saturday.
