ALLENDALE, Mich. - The outdoor season collected several more highlight moments for Grace's track and field team over the weekend.
Grace competed at Grand Valley State's Al Owens Classic, winning two events in a packed meet.
Cece Mitchell continued her impressive campaign by winning the 5,000-meter race. She broke the tape in 17:32.72.
Grace Pettit also won her race in the 3,000 steeplechase. She ran a time of 11:31.68, two seconds away from the school record.
Addi Dewey (17:47.52) was not far behind Mitchell in sixth place in the 5,000, and Tame Sigler (18:42.97) was also a top-20 finisher in the race.
Michael Muiruri was the runner-up in the triple jump when he cleared 46-feet-3.5. He also was 14th in the 110 hurdles at 15.71 seconds.
Cherish Ray produced an eighth-place showing in the 400 at 58.97, and Morgan Welch grabbed 11th in the 800 (2:16.77).
The women's relay teams performed well. The 4x400 squad of Kila Foster, Ray, Sophie Rupp and Welch seized fourth place (4:03.90). The 4x100 relay team of Olivia Davis, Foster, Paula Fernandez and Addie Gustus collected 10th place (1:00.66).
The men's 4x400 foursome of Logan Clark, Caleb Nichols, Brady Hunsberger and Kyle Robinson finished in sixth place (3:28.28).
Lani Calizo cleared 5-feet-1.75 in the high jump to place seventh.
Hunsberger ran 1:56.37 to place 15th in the 800, and Hunter Quadlin was 19th in the 5,000 (15:24.35).
In the throwing events, Abby Affholter had a trio of top-20 finishes in the shot put (32-5.75), discus (109-4) and hammer (116-6).
Clayton Martin earned sixth place in the javelin, tossing 144-2. Carter Paeschke placed 16th in the hammer (120-9), and Camden Williams was 17th in the shot put (39-7.75).
The Lancers will next head to Marion, Ind., for the Little State Championships on April 17-18.
