NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Grace College's Men's soccer team earned a 0-0 draw with Holy Cross on Thursday night.
The tie is the Lancers (2-2-3) third in a row and also their fourth clean sheet of the season.
Pedro Galante got the start in goal for the Lancers and was tested early. Holy Cross (4-0-2) had a shot on target within the first four minutes and followed with a corner kick and a headed attempt in close-order.
The next twenty minutes saw the game devolve into a midfield battle. Neither squad had a shot on goal during the mid portion of the half.
Cihan Acik had a shot for Grace that traveled high and the Saints had a chance that was also wide of its mark as the game entered the half.
Holy Cross had five shots in the first half while the Lancers had one. Grace was whistled for 10 fouls to Holy Cross's four.
The second half saw Holy Cross given a yellow card in the opening minutes in a move that seemed to flip the momentum for the Lancers.
Just seconds later
Noah Ballard had a headed attempt then had another chance that was on target before being blocked by a Holy Cross defender.
The Lancers' early onslaught continued with two more shots that forced saves including a try from
Teague Misner.
Grace was given a yellow card in the 56th minute which opened the door for Holy Cross to spark their offense.
The Saints had the next three shots but only one of their attempts was on target and needed a save from
Ben Kenn.
Grace's offense continued to run through Ballard who had another try for goal that was denied by the Holy Cross keeper.
With the game in the waning moments
Josh Cruz tried to recreate the late game magic from just days early with another last minute marker but his try was nullified with a save as the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
The Lancers ended the game with a 10-8 shot advantage while Holy Cross had a 4-1 corner kick edge. Ballard had three shots while Cruz had two.
The Lancers will next be in action on Wednesday when they host No. 3 Indiana Tech at 7 P.M.
