PLYMOUTH, Ind. - Grace's women's golf team shattered their previous best 54-hole score at the Pretty Lake Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lancers shot 939 in the two-day tournament, besting their previous mark of 947 which was set at the Crossroads League Championships in 2023. The result gave Grace a second-place finish in the 10-team tournament.
Camille Short highlighted the Lancers' efforts with a historic effort of her own. Short recorded the third lowest three-round score in program history on her way to a dramatic victory.
The junior carded a mark of 230 which was tied for first after 54 holes of play. She then won the playoff after four holes to claim the overall medalist honors.
Grace also had the lowest score of the tournament with a score of 309 during the second round.
Grace's "B" squad also had a tremendous showing. They shot 968 which is tied for the 10th lowest mark in program history.
Ava Thomas and
Abby Wright also turned in record book worthy results. They tied for sixth in the tournament and now stand in joint 10th place for lowest three-round score in program history.
Trinity Bramer was the fourth Lancers to lay claim to a top-10 placement. She shot three consistent rounds of 79, 80, 77 to finish in 10th place.
Kiley Standring averaged 80 across the two days to come in at 14th and
Olivia Stronczek was just behind her with a mark of 242.
Grace Beerman and
Elyse Veldman were deadlocked throughout the tournament and finished in joint 20th place with scores of 245. Lexi Kelly with a mark of 247 and
Natalie Winter with a score of 263 closed out the scoring for Grace.
"This was a tremendous tournament," said Grace head coach
Denny Duncan. "The leader board was back and forth all tournament long and I am so proud of these ladies and how they performed."
The Lancers will return to action on Monday as they host the Battle at Stonehenge.
