KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Grace's cross country team continued its season at Western Michigan's George Dales Invite on Friday.

The Lancers battled multiple NCAA Div. I schools, including Akron, Bowling Green, Dayton, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Oakland and Western Michigan.

The women placed 10th out of 13 teams, and the men were ninth out of 10.

Krysta Stanko led the women with a 43rd-place showing of 22:31.8.

Cece Mitchell was not far behind her in 48th place (22:42.0), and Grace Pettit was two seconds behind in 22:44.5.

Leah Emch (22:57.9) finished fourth in line for the Lancers. She was followed by Faith Spain (23:16.7), Esther Crane (23:47.4) and Izzy Moon (24:36.0).

"The ladies ran well today in a field of tough teams. Even though we were without a few runners, we still had a number of PRs or near-PRs at an early point of the season," Dewey said.

The men were led by freshman Brady Hicks for the second straight meet. He battled to a time of 25:38.0, placing 19th in the challenging field.

Austin Wilson also placed in the top-50, grabbing 46th with a time of 26:31.2.

Grace's next four finished in a pack, including Reid Sollars (26:52.6), Zeke Benedict (26:59.3), Matt Urbina (27:03.3) and Hunter Quadlin (27:07.9).

John Young rounded out the top-seven finishers with a time of 27:33.6.

"Our men had a mixed day with a number of illnesses and nagging injuries affecting several runners. As the men return to health and move towards higher training volume, we should see more consistency and confidence in racing," Dewey added.

Next up, the Lancers will travel to Iowa for the Seminole Valley Stampede on Oct. 3.
