WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace's volleyball team made quick work of Goshen on Saturday, winning in three sets.
The No. 23 Lancers (19-3, 7-1 Crossroads League) won their fourth match in a row. Grace has now won 16 of its past 17 matches and remain tied for first place in the league standings.
Grace's next match is against Crossroads League co-leader Indiana Wesleyan. The Lancers will host IWU on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in a marquee battle.
Grace's offense was explosive on Saturday afternoon. The Lancers amassed 49 kills on a .364 percentage; the Maple Leafs (1-18, 0-8 CL) were muted to 28 kills by comparison.
In the opening set, both teams enjoyed efficient attacks. Each side hit at least .300 in the opening set, but Grace hit at an elite level.
The Lancers quickly opened up a cushion in the first set with a 12-7 lead. Grace had no trouble holding that lead and rolled to a 25-18 win.
The Lancers had 20 kills and just one error in the set, hitting at a .487 percentage. Anna Elkin led the charge with seven kills on nine swings (.778 percentage), and Carsyn Witt passed out 11 assists.
Early into the second set, Grace used a 9-3 spree to gain separation. Callie Jo Celichowski had two kills and two block points during the run.
The Lancers ended the set with another 25-18 win, powered by 17 kills on just three errors as a team. Elkin added six more kills in the set to continue her dominant day.
The third set was a rout. Grace ripped off 12 unanswered points. Abby Leffring collected four kills during the run, and Molly Hofmann added two more.
The Lancers strolled away for a 13-point win to clinch Saturday's sweep.
Elkin racked up 13 kills on a .545 percentage, adding five digs. Leffring had 11 kills on 15 swings (.733 percentage) to go along with 1 solo block and 4 block assists.
Savannah Clawson had seven kills with eight digs, Reagan Owens had 13 digs, and Celichowski tallied six kills with four block assists.
Witt had 21 assists with five digs, and Reese McCutchan added 12 assists.
