WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace College's Men's soccer team earned a tie with the Huntington Foresters 0-0 on Saturday evening.
The Lancers (2-4-4, 0-1-1 Crossroads League) heavily outshot the Foresters but were unable to find the game winning goal.
Possession was dominated by Grace early in the half. The Lancers generated numerous scoring opportunities and had an early shot from
Felix Voigt.
Noah Ballard and
Eric Favere each had shots that missed the goal. Favere then had another shot from point-blank range that sliced across the ground before being smothered by the Huntington keeper.
Grace had a late corner kick that allowed
Vasco Tavares a chance on goal but the Lancers were unable to find the back of the net.
Grace outshot Huntington 5-0 in the first half and one corner kick while the Foresters had zero.
The second half started with a shot from
Marvin Jaeger as the Lancers continued to dominate possession.
The Foresters were unable to solve the Lancers' defense as Grace defended their penalty box from any sustained attack.
Sebastian Lozano had a line drive shot from the top of the 18-yard box, but the Huntington keeper managed to handle the ball. Just minutes later Huntington had their best chance of the game with a curling shot but
Ben Kenn made a diving save to keep the game level.
With 11 minutes left in the game
Noah Ballard had a well placed shot that nearly beat the keeper but was saved at the last second.
With 4:40 left
Julian Saldivar had a glorious chance but it was blocked before making it to goal.
The final chances of the game belonged to Huntington with a pair of corner kicks in the waning seconds but they couldn't find a goal as the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
The Lancers will return to action on Wednesday with a road trip to Indiana Wesleyan.
