Marcus Moore is a longtime fixture with Grace Athletics, starring for the Lancers before transitioning to coaching and administration. He currently serves as Grace's Athletics Recruiting Coordinator.
In his role as Athletics Recruiting Coordinator, Marcus assists all varsity programs in recruitment. Additionally, he has a focus on the growth of junior varsity and club sports on Grace’s campus. Under his leadership, Grace Athletics has achieved its largest recruiting classes in school history.
He was Grace's women's tennis head coach for five seasons, ending his time in 2022 as the program's all-time leader in coaching wins. He guided the Lancers to a 56-26 record. The top-three winningest seasons in team history (at that time) happened under Moore's guidance (2018, 2019, 2020).
He was honored nationally as the 2021 NCCAA National Women's Tennis Coach of the Year.
In his first season in 2017 as tennis coach, the Lancers posted a 9-6 record. That marked the best record for a first-year coach in team history. His doubles' teams, in particular, excelled. Emily Mast posted the most doubles wins (13) in a season in program history, and Carrie Copeland finished with the second-most ever with 12.
In 2018 the Lancers set a new program record with 14 wins and a 14-4 record. Grace's six wins in Crossroads League play tied the program record as well.
The 2019 campaign saw Grace post a program-best 7-2 mark in league play. Moore was named the Crossroads League Coach of the Year, and three players were named to the All-League Team.
In 2020-21, he led the Lancers to a 14-6 record. Grace's 14 wins tied for the most victories in a single season in team history. Only the 2018 squad — also coached by Moore — recorded 14 wins in a year.
Marcus assisted Grace’s women's tennis program for two years (2015-16), including an impressive 11-5 campaign in 2016 which earned his twin brother Scott the Crossroads League Coach of the Year.
Marcus played men’s tennis and basketball during his undergraduate time at Grace from 2004-08. He was a legend on the hardwood, graduating second all-time for the Lancers in career points with 2,351. He was inducted into the Lancer Hall of Fame in 2023.
As a basketball player, Marcus was named honorable mention NAIA All-American three times (2006, 2007, 2008). He was a four-time NCCAA All-American, including a First Team honoree in 2008. He helped lead Grace to the Elite Eight of the NAIA national tournament.
Marcus also served as the boys’ head basketball coach at Jimtown High School for three seasons.
He currently lives in Warsaw with his wife Haley and two sons Logan and Cole. Marcus also teaches sport management classes in Grace's School of Business.
