Grace College’s athletic department announced that Bethany Carpenter will serve as the interim head coach for Grace’s softball team.

Carpenter, who served as a graduate assistant for the past two years, will lead the team for the 2024-25 campaign.

“I feel honored and extremely excited for the opportunity to continue being a part of the softball program here at Grace. The Lord has used the game of softball in my life in more ways than I could have ever imagined. I look forward to pouring into the program and, more importantly, into the lives of the ladies on the team this upcoming year,” Carpenter said. “I know that God has the perfect plan for Grace’s softball program and for each one of the ladies in this program. I am blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of that story.”

Carpenter was an accomplished player for the Lancers during her undergraduate career. She showed steady improvement throughout her career from 2019-22, culminating with All-Crossroads League recognition as a senior.

She hit .301 in her final season in 2022, amassing 47 hits in 47 games. She tied for seventh in program history for single-season home runs in the process.

As a graduate assistant coach last spring, she helped lead Grace to its most conference wins and overall wins in a season since 2017.

“I am excited for Bethany to lead as our interim head coach for the upcoming year. She has been a standout athlete for our program and has multiple years of experience on the coaching staff,” said Grace’s Director of Athletics Chad Briscoe. “Bethany has a deep understanding and love for the game, and most importantly, she has a desire to shape lives for Christ through the sport of softball. We look forward to the upcoming season under her leadership.”
