Carol McGregor is back for her seventh year with Grace Athletics in 2025-26. She served as an assistant women's basketball coach for four years and then transitioned into the school's first Senior Woman Leader in the summer of 2022.
The Senior Woman Leader is a new position, created to help promote meaningful representation of women in leadership and management at Grace; it also provides an identifiable female presence with whom staff and student-athletes can communicate.
McGregor will continue with her other roles on campus as well, including directing Grace's sport management major within the business department.
McGregor helped lead Grace's women's basketball team to a few of its finest seasons ever while assisting the Lancers. In her final season of 2021-22, Grace tied the then-school record for most wins (20). The squad also reached the NCCAA National Championships for the seventh consecutive season and advanced to the semifinals of the Crossroads League Tournament.
During the 2019-20 season, McGregor helped Grace to one of its best seasons ever. The Lancers achieved their best season up to that point (per winning percentage) at 19-12 before the postseason was cut off due to COVID-19. The Lancers were poised to be a high seed at the NCCAA National Championships before the season was called off. Grace won two games at the 2021 NCCAA tournament and placed fifth in the nation.
McGregor has a wealth of experience with basketball, both playing and coaching at a high level. She comes to Grace after serving two seasons as an assistant women’s basketball coach at NCAA Division I Purdue Fort Wayne.
She is familiar with the region having starred at NorthWood High School. McGregor (then Carol Duncan) was an Indiana All-Star at NorthWood and was inducted into the Elkhart County Sports Hall of Fame in 2014.
McGregor went on to play collegiately at Purdue University, earning four varsity letters. She helped the Boilermakers win two Big Ten Tournament championships in 2003 and 2004 and reach the NCAA Tournament all four seasons. Purdue reached the Elite Eight in 2003 and the Sweet Sixteen in both 2004 and 2006.
After Purdue, McGregor made coaching stops at Northwestern University (2006-08), Murray State University (2008-10), University of Saint Francis (2015-16) and Purdue Fort Wayne (2016-18).
“We look forward to having Carol join our family at Grace College. She has an extensive background both in administration and coaching at the NAIA and NCAA DI level, which will help grow and impact our athletic department,” Briscoe said. “Her roots in northern Indiana and her desire to change lives for Christ will have a great impact on our athletic programs, campus and community.”
McGregor earned her Bachelor’s degree at Purdue in English and obtained her Master’s in sports administration from Northwestern.
McGregor lives in Fort Wayne with her husband Ross, daughter Blair and son Duncan.
