WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Mallory Rondeau scored her first collegiate goal in the 16th minute against Cincinnati Christian on Monday night. Less than 20 minutes later, she had her first collegiate hat trick.
Rondeau's first-half hat trick highlighted a dominant display for the Lady Lancers (2-0) in their 4-0 victory over the Eagles (0-1).
Emily Hickerson scored the fourth goal of the match in the 41st minute from a double assist from Jocelyn Evans and Jackie Seal.
Overall, Grace outshot Cincinnati Christian 25-3 and controlled possession throughout the match.
“The women came out strong and tightly composed today. The finishing was clinical, and our possession was clean for 90 minutes across the match,” said Grace head coach Michael Voss. “We continue to improve, yet we leave today identifying more in our system to iron out.”
Evans, who finished with two assists, fed Rondeau's strike in the 16th minute to start Grace's scoring. At the 22:38 mark, Rondeau scored again from an assist by freshman Carianne Sobey.
Rondeau capped off her three-goal performance at the 32:59 mark thanks to Holly Bennett's assist.
Ten players overall recorded a shot for the Lady Lancers, and six players registered at least three shots for Grace. Bennett led all players with five shots and four shots on goal.
Carmen Barnhill earned her first shutout of the year, making three saves in 90 minutes.
The Lady Lancers return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Marygrove College for a 3 p.m. kickoff. Grace will then shift their attention to their exhibition match with the Women's National Team of Haiti at Miller Field on Saturday. Listen to the Grace/Haiti game live at 4 p.m. here.
