	MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – Grace's women's soccer team and Mount Vernon Nazarene played to a scoreless draw on a rainy Wednesday afternoon after 110 minutes of action.
	The Lady Lancers (9-6-1; 6-1-1 Crossroads League) tightened their grip on second place in the CL standings with one match remaining at Marian on Saturday.
	Grace outshot Mt. Vernon 22-12 on a messy pitch and also held a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks, but neither team was able to produce a goal through 90 minutes of regulation and two overtime periods.
	The first half of action saw a handful of strong opportunities as each team tallied five shots. Holly Bennett and Mallory Rondeau made a few good combination passes in attack in the 27th minute, but Bennett's shot from 18 yards was wide.
	The Lady Lancers ratcheted up their offense in the second half, outshooting the Cougars (9-6-2; 5-2-1 CL) 13-4 in the final 45 minutes of regulation. 
	Carianne Sobey sparked two good chances for Grace. In the 52nd minute, Sobey fired a hard shot that was parried above the crossbar by MVNU's goalkeeper. Ten minutes later, Sobey weaved through a few defenders and took a left-footed shot that was wide.
	Grace was fouled in a dangerous position just outside the penalty box in the 74th minute, but Rondeau's free kick was headed by Grace outside the post.
	Meghan Wiles nearly won the game in the 81st minute, but her attempt pinged off the crossbar.
	The Lady Lancers continued to push in the overtime periods, producing four shots and a corner kick over the extra periods. Meredith Hollar and Emily Hickerson led Grace's last-minute efforts to score, but the Cougars' defense held firm.
	Carmen Barnhill recorded the 110-minute shutout by making five saves in goal. Heather Martin, Faith Voehringer, Lauren Becker, Erica Manchess and Jalisa Thayer each contributed on the defensive side for Grace.
