MARION, Ind. - Grace's men's tennis team lost a narrow 5-3 decision to Indiana Wesleyan in Friday's NCCAA Midwest Regional championship match.
A day after knocking off Spring Arbor in the regional semifinals, the Lancers came up two points shy of an automatic bid to the NCCAA National Championships.
Grace will await the awarding of at-large berths into NCCAA Nationals to see if their outstanding season will continue at the national tournament in Mobile, Ala. (May 7-10).
The Lancers entered singles competition with a 2-1 advantage, just as they did against the Cougars on Thursday.
The Blevins's duo (Aaron and Michael) won 8-6 at No. 1 doubles, and Michael Humphrey and Jack Wang picked up Grace's second doubles win at No. 3 doubles, 8-5.
But only Ricardo Bedon managed to win once the Lancers transitioned to singles play. Bedon's 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles proved to be Grace's third and final point of the day.
