Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Grace makes short work of St. Francis on the road

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – A balanced attack propelled Grace's volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over St. Francis on Wednesday night.

Six players notched at least three kills for Grace as the Lady Lancers (18-5, 9-2 Crossroads League) maintained second place in the league standings.

"We came into tonight's game prepared to put pressure on St. Francis, and I feel we executed the game plan very well," said Grace head coach Andria Harshman. "We are in a good place as a team, and all pieces of our team are contributing well."

Grace's offense clicked at an attack percentage of .200 for the match, including a .259 clip in the opening set. Grace won 25-18 in the opener and clinched the match with 25-17 and 25-16 wins in the final two sets.

The Cougars (10-9, 6-5 CL) had little momentum on offense, due in large part to Grace's blocking. The Lady Lancers amassed 13 block points, including two solo blocks and 10 block assists from Grace Woolsey and six block assists from Megan Johnson. Woolsey also had five kills and three service aces, and Johnson tallied seven kills on a .211 percentage.

Ellie Harp, the reigning CL Setter of the Week, produced 29 assists, 5 kills, 5 digs and 1 ace to spearhead Grace's attack. Kaitlin Kerrigan added seven kills on a .250 percentage, and Tori Bontrager recorded six kills on eight attempts.

Hannah Clemmons finished with a team-best 11 digs, and Annie Salazar had 10 more.

The Lady Lancers conclude the week with a challenging tournament hosted by Davenport on Friday and Saturday. Grace will play No. 8 Viterbo, Trinity Christian (receiving votes), No. 23 Ashford and St. Ambrose in the tournament.
