WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Playing their opening match of the 2014 season, Grace's women's tennis team dropped a 5-4 matchup with Huntington on Thursday.

The Lady Lancers (0-1, 0-1 Crossroads League) fell behind 2-1 after doubles' competitions and came up one point shy of a comeback victory.

Katie Etter was the sole Lady Lancer to win doubles (No. 3) and singles (No. 6). She did not drop a set in either matchup, including an 8-0 win in doubles' play with Sarah Hinkel.

Gabrielle Lawrence earned a quick 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles, and Natalia Kurkova recovered from a first-set loss to win at No. 1 singles. After losing 2-6 in the opening set, Kurkova bounced back to force a third set where she claimed a 10-6 tiebreaking win.

The Lady Lancers continue league play on Tuesday with a home match against St. Francis at 1 p.m. Grace will also host Taylor on Thursday and Spring Arbor on Saturday of next week.
