Lancers to join Coaches vs. Cancer awareness campaign on Tuesday

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Grace's men's basketball team will be participating in the NABC Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Awareness Week when the Lancers host Mt. Vernon Nazarene on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The week of awareness is a joint effort of the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches that empowers basketball coaches to help make a difference in the fight against cancer.

Coach Jim Kessler and the Lancers' coaching staff will swap out their dress shoes for sneakers with their usual game attire to demonstrate support for the American Cancer Society's efforts to finish the fight against cancer.

College and high school coaches and teams who participate in Suits and Sneakers Awareness Weekend will help the ACS save lives and fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community.  The Society's efforts have contributed to a 20 percent decline in cancer death rates in the US since 1991, and a 50 percent drop in smoking rates. The Society is finding cures as the nation's largest private, not-for-profit investor in cancer research, ensuring people facing cancer have the help they need, and continuing the fight for access to quality health care, lifesaving screenings, clean air, and more.
