Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Grace excels late to top Trinity Christian

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Grace's women's basketball team nearly led from start to finish against Trinity Christian on Saturday.

The victory, however, was not secured until a fourth-quarter push as the Lady Lancers (2-2) won 74-61.

Grace had its highest scoring output of the young season in the new four-quarter format. Gabby Miller led Grace with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. She was 2-for-2 on 3-pointers and 4-of-4 on free throws.

Grace led 20-16 after the one quarter of action. Haley Richardson had six of her 12 points in the first 10 minutes.

The Lady Lancers built up a nine-point lead midway into the second quarter, but the Trolls (0-3) rallied to cut the gap to 33-29 at the halftime break.

Trinity Christian made a charge a few minutes into the second half. The Trolls rattled off eight unanswered points in less than two minutes, capitalizing off a pair of Grace turnovers to claim a 44-43 lead. Grace recovered, however, and took the lead for good on a triple by Jenna Kieper with 3:31 to play in the period.

Grace led by five at the start of the fourth quarter and made a game-clinching run soon after. The Lady Lancers began the fourth on a 16-4 spurt, blowing open a 17-point lead with less than four minutes remaining. Miller produced seven points during Grace's run, and Jesse Feitz scored six more.

Feitz scored nine points and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds. Kieper buried two 3-pointers for eight points off the bench, and Sarah Feasby added five points and seven boards.

Grace hit 43 percent of its field goals and 41 percent from beyond the arc.

The Lady Lancers travel to Fort Wayne on Wednesday for a game at Indiana Tech.
