JOLIET, Ill. – Grace's volleyball team was unable to get the better of Trinity Christian or No. 18 Madonna on Saturday.

The Lady Lancers (11-15) struggled defensively in both matches, losing 3-1 to Trinity Christian and 3-0 to Madonna at the Big Guns Classic at USF.

Against Trinity Christian, Grace allowed the Trolls to hit at a .229 percentage with 53 kills. Trinity won the first two games 25-19 and 25-17.

Grace battled back in the third set with a 25-21 victory. The Lady Lancers had 13 kills on five errors during the game.

But the Trolls ended the match with a 10-point win in the fourth. Grace hit at a negative hitting percentage in the deciding set.

Kelsee Zuidema had 15 kills, and Marta Bleed added 13 kills on a .257 percentage. Kari Feddema was a lone bright spot defensively for Grace with three solos and four block assists, adding eight kills on offense as well.

Taylor Baird passed out 41 assists, and Caylie Teel added 19 digs.

In the second match of the day against Madonna, the No. 18-ranked Crusaders eased away for a 25-11, 25-21, 25-14 win.

The Crusaders outhit the Lady Lancers by tallying 51 kills on a .361 percentage, while Grace had 26 kills on a .081 percentage.

Zuidema led Grace with eight kills, and Feddema and Hart had six kills apiece.

The Lady Lancers resume Crossroads League action on Wednesday, traveling to Indiana Wesleyan.
