MARION, Ind. - Grace's women's tennis team was unable to keep pace with the Crossroads League champion on Saturday.
Indiana Wesleyan downed the Grace 9-0 to officially end the regular season.
The Lady Lancers (9-5, 4-5 Crossroads League) finished the season in sixth place. In next week's Crossroads League Tournament, Grace will travel to third-seed Huntington on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. for the quarterfinals.
Shelby Bankson and Briana Diehl had the closest match in doubles' play for Grace with the Wildcats winning 8-4.
The Wildcats (11-0, 9-0 CL) won all six singles' matches in straight sets. Emily Mast nearly forced a third set at No. 1 singles, losing 6-7, 5-7.
"I'm happy with how our girls fought today. We had a lot of deuce games where we just didn't get over the hump," said Grace head coach Marcus Moore. "Credit to IWU for winning a lot of big points. They're a tough team, and we didn't play our best today."
