GOSHEN, Ind. - For the second straight match, Grace's men's tennis team fell by a 6-3 scoreline.
Goshen got the better of the Lancers (0-2, 0-2 Crossroads League) on Wednesday, despite the efforts of Danila Kurkulin.
Kurkulin was responsible for two of Grace's three points in the match. He teamed up with Caleb Yoder to win 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.
That proved to be Grace's only win in doubles' play. Uros Pajic and Diego Zamora lost a tough 8-4 match at No. 2 doubles.
Kurkulin led Grace's singles' efforts with a straight set 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles.
Lucas Fonseca claimed the other singles' win for Grace. He won a dramatic, hard-fought victory 1-6, 6-1 (15-13) at No. 6 singles.
"We came out a little flat today, and it cost us. We fought hard to make things close in the end, but we will need to start stronger next match," said Grace assistant coach Andy Lewis.
The Lancers end the week with their annual friendly tournament at the Blueberry Festival. Grace resumes league play on Tuesday, playing at Mt. Vernon Nazarene.
