WINONA LAKE, Ind. - A four-match winning streak was snapped on Tuesday for Grace's women's tennis team.
The Lady Lancers (6-2, 3-2 Crossroads League) fell narrowly 5-4 to Spring Arbor at Miller Field.
Grace lost two of the three doubles' courts, and that early disadvantage proved costly against the Cougars (4-1, 4-1 CL).
Emily Mast and
Carrie Copeland were the lone bright spot in doubles' play for Grace. The duo cruised to an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Mast, who is the two-time reigning NCCAA National Player of the Week, continued her perfect season with a tough win at No. 1 singles 6-4, 7-6 (7-5). Copeland clawed her way to a three-set victory at No. 2 singles.
Jenna Jackson had little trouble with her opponent at No. 3 singles, but Grace dropped the remaining three singles' courts to lose the match.
The Lady Lancers end the week by playing in the ITA Regional Tournament, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan.
