WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Grace's women's tennis team took its first match loss of the season, falling to Huntington 6-3.
The Lady Lancers (2-1, 1-1 Crossroads League) started strong by winning two out of three doubles' matches; however, they were unable to carry the momentum into singles' competition.
Emily Mast and
Carrie Copeland had no trouble scoring the victory at No. 1 doubles coming away with an 8-4 win.
Briana Diehl and
Shelby Bankson came away with a doubles' victory of their own with a score of 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
Mast was the lone bright spot for the Lancers in singles' competition. She won in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
The Foresters (3-1, 1-1 CL) took four of the remaining five singles' matches in straight sets. Copeland showed a strong effort in her defeat at No. 2 singles, losing in three sets 2-6, 6-7, 2-7.
Jenna Jackson also put up a strong fight at No. 3 singles with a 3-6, 3-6 scoreline.
The Lancers will hit the road to face Holy Cross on Monday. The match starts at 4 p.m.
