GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Grace's volleyball team was unable to win its first two games at Cornerstone on Friday.
The Lady Lancers lost in straight sets to Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) before falling 3-1 to the host Cornerstone in the nightcap.
Grace was unable to keep pace with UNOH in the opener. After Grace dropped a tight first set 25-23, the Racers coasted 25-15 and 25-16 to close out the match.
Caylie Teel produced a team-high 12 kills to go along with 14 digs, Alexa Hill had 32 assists, Gabbey Harrington pounded out eight kills, and Gina Novotny led all players with 18 digs.
The second match saw Cornerstone get revenge after losing to Grace in the first tournament of the season.
The Lady Lancers (17-10) edged out the Eagles (19-8) by a 25-23 score in the opening set.
Cornerstone quickly rallied by winning the next two sets 25-21 and 25-13.
In the fourth set, the teams took turns grabbing the lead. Cornerstone made timely plays at the end to win by two and secure the victory.
Kelsee Zuidema amassed 17 kills, Teel tallied a double-double with 13 kills and 18 digs, and Hill also had a double-double with 37 assists and 16 digs.
Novotny added 13 digs, and Makayla Bell chipped in with 11 digs.
The Lady Lancers end the tournament on Saturday, playing Aquinas and Siena Heights.
