WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace's women's tennis team defeated Taylor 6-3 in the quarterfinals of the Crossroads League Tournament on Tuesday.
The Lady Lancers (13-3) will play at top-seed Indiana Wesleyan in the tournament semifinals on Wednesday. Grace reached the semifinals for the second time in three years.
Grace also increased its program record for wins in a single season with its 13th victory.
The Lady Lancers earned an early advantage by winning two of the three doubles' points with all three being highly competitive.
Emily Mast and Jenna Jackson won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles, and Morgan Mast and Jayna Armstrong battled to a 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles.
Carrie Copeland and Molly Fitzpatrick also nearly made a massive comeback at No. 2 doubles. After falling behind 6-1, the duo almost forced a tiebreaker before losing 6-8.
The Mast sisters both won in singles. Morgan cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles, and Emily pulled out a three-set win at No. 1 singles, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Fitzpatrick also won in three sets at No. 5 singles, 2-6, 6-2, 6-0, and Armstrong coasted to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles.
