SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - Grace's men's tennis team wrapped up the Crossroads League season with a 7-2 road defeat at Spring Arbor on Thursday.
The Lancers finished the regular season sixth in the league with a 6-6 overall record (4-5 CL). Grace will travel to No. 3 seed Goshen in the league quarterfinals on Tuesday.
Thursday's match saw Grace fall into an early hole after doubles. Pavle Popovic and Diego Zamora narrowly fell 8-5 at No. 1 doubles, and Max Rozas and Caleb Yoder lost by the same score at No. 2 doubles.
Jacob Gray and Conner Bates also lost 8-4 at No. 3 doubles, giving the Cougars (7-2, 6-2 CL) a big boost to start the match.
Popovic and Rozas bounced back to win in singles. Rozas won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and Popovic cruised to a 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles.
No other Lancer was able to find victory in singles' play. The Fonseca twins came the closest with Arturo Fonseca falling 2-6, 4-6 at No. 4 singles, and Lucas Fonseca losing 1-6, 6-7.
