WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace's men's tennis team was tripped up by Goshen 9-0 at home on Thursday.
The Lancers took three singles' matches to three sets, but the Maple Leafs (4-0, 3-0 Crossroads League) came away with a win each time.
Grace put itself in an early hole by losing each doubles' match. Diego Zamora and Pavle Popovic were the closest for Grace in an 8-4 loss at No. 1 doubles.
Popovic took his No. 1 singles' opponent to three sets before losing, and Jacob Gray at No. 4 singles and Caleb Yoder at No. 6 singles also lost in three sets.
"This was a tough day, but we had two players sit out due to injury. We had some good performances from Pavle. Caleb stepped in for us at six singles, and Jake played well at four singles. We'll bounce back quickly for Saturday," said Grace head coach Andy Lewis.
The Lancers stay at home on Saturday with a 1 p.m. match against Mt. Vernon Nazarene.
