WINONA LAKE, Ind. - The 2020 season could not have started better for Grace's men's tennis team.
The Lancers swept the opener against Bethel 7-0 on Saturday.
Grace cruised through doubles' play to start the match. Pavle Popovic and Jacob Gray were the closest match, winning 6-4 at No. 1 doubles. Max Rozas and Fabricio Galvan won 6-3 at No. 2 doubles, and Ramiro Candia and Mauricio Corty won 6-2 at No. 3.
The only battle in singles came at the top position. Max Rozas dropped the opening set but quickly rallied to claim the match 4-6, 6-1, 10-4.
The rest of the singles' courts were won by Grace in straight sets, including Candia at No. 2 (6-2, 6-1), Galvan at No. 3 (6-2, 6-1), Popovic at No. 4 (6-1, 6-2), Corty at No. 5 (6-2, 6-1) and Kye Barrett at No. 6 (6-0, 6-2).
The Lancers return to action on Tuesday, traveling to play a doubleheader at Spring Arbor (against SAU and St. Francis).
