MOBILE, Ala. - Grace's men's tennis team battled to a hard-fought come-from-behind win over Judson on Tuesday by the score of 4-3.
The match was the opener of the 2021 NCCAA National Championships. Pool play for Grace will conclude on Wednesday against Oakland City. With a win, Grace would secure a spot in the NCCAA semifinals.
Grace lost the doubles' point and had to battle from behind as a result. Facundo Paredes and Ivan Antinori won 6-4 at No. 3 doubles, but the Lancers lost the other two doubles' courts.
Antinori (6-4, 6-0) won at No. 6 singles, and Ramiro Candia (6-3, 6-2) also won at No. 5 to help Grace regain its footing.
Paredes picked up his second win of the day at No. 2 singles (6-3, 6-4), and David Sandi had the final win at No. 3 (7-6, 6-2).
The top two teams from each pool will advance to the NCCAA semifinals. The semifinals will be held on Thursday with the championship match set for Friday.
