WARSAW, Ind. - The Grace men's tennis team took care of business in the opening round of the Crossroads League Tournament, defeating Goshen 4-1 in a match played inside at the Warsaw Racquet Club.
The Maple Leafs of Goshen jumped out to a 1-0 lead by taking two of the doubles matches, both by 6-3 scores. Grace then came back to dominate singles play, winning four contests to claim the match.
David Sandi won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and
Fabricio Galvan claimed the No. 3 spot 6-1, 6-4. After
Nicolas Doria won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 singles, it was simply a matter of which match finished first to give Grace the overall victory.
Ramiro Candia took the honors of clinching the match, coming back to win 6-7, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
The Lancers improve to 9-2 overall and advance to face Marian University in Indianapolis on Thursday.
