WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace's women's basketball team dropped its NCCAA quarterfinal matchup to Southwestern on Wednesday night.
The Lady Lancers fell 73-60, but will play again on Thursday at 1:45 p.m.
Grace started the game ice cold from the field. The Lady Lancers went the first 4:20 of play before registering a point.
Kenzie McMahon was the first Lancer to breakthrough, scoring Grace's first six-points.
Maddie Ryman made a contested layup and answered a Southwestern basket with a 3-point shot to cut the deficit to two points.
After seeing their lead cut to two, the Eagles ended the quarter on a 7-0 run to send the game to the break with Grace trailing 20-13.
Ryman knocked down a pair of free throws and hit an open trifecta to start the quarter, but Southwestern continued to add to their lead.
At the 7:00 minute mark of the quarter, the Lady Lancers trailed 27-18.
Karissa Lukasiewicz pushed the Grace's point total to 20, but the Lady Lancers couldn't find an answer on defense.
Southwestern led 36-20 with 2 minutes left in the half. Lukasiewicz scored Grace's last four points of the half, as the game entered the intermission with Grace trailing 40-24.
Grace shot 40 percent from the field in the first half, compared to Southwestern's 57 percent. Ryman led Grace with 13 first half points.
Feldman and Ryman scored early in the second half, but Southwestern continued to maintain their advantage.
Grace trailed 47-24 at the 7:41 mark of the third quarter after Kiersten Poor trey.
Karlee Felman cut the Grace deficit to 11 with three-minutes left in the third, but the Eagles extended their lead back to 15 points.
Kaylee Patton and Ryman scored to end the third as Grace entered the final quarter down 55-44.
The Lady Lancers got as close as 10 in the fourth quarter, but couldn't make the deficit any smaller, falling by a final score of 73-60.
Grace finished the game 41 percent from the floor, 33 percent from beyond the arc, and 50 percent from the charity stripe. The Eagles shot 57, 44 and 69 percent respectively.
Ryman led Grace with 21 points. Feldman added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 1 block. Patton chipped in 10 points.Â
