Volleyball tripped up at Bethel

MISHAWAKA, Ind. - Grace's volleyball team could not withstand the attack from Bethel on Wednesday, falling in three sets on the road.

The Lady Lancers (6-7, 1-1 Crossroads League) begin the start of a busy week with two more road matches upcoming. Grace will play at No. 19 Taylor on Friday and at St. Francis on Saturday.

The first set saw Grace grab a slight edge; a pair of early kills from Katie Swanson and Cassadi Colbert helped push Grace ahead.

But the Pilots used a 13-6 run late in the set to surge in front; they won the final two points to take the opening set 25-22.

Bethel won convincingly in the second set to take a commanding hold on the match.

The third set was closely contested like the opener. Colbert, Swanson and Livia Tate had early kills to give Grace a small lead, but Bethel grabbed the lead in the middle portions.

Colbert had two more late kills in the set, but Grace struggled to slow down the Pilots down the stretch. Bethel produced enough kills to keep Grace at a distance, winning 25-22 to secure the victory in the match.

Colbert and Swanson produced eight kills each to lead Grace's attack, and Alisha Leffring tallied five kills and a pair of block points.
