WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace's men's team continued its unbeaten run with a 4-1 victory over Judson University on Thursday. The matchup with the Eagles marks the eighth meeting since 2020 and a rematch of the last two NCCAA national championship finals.
The Lancers (9-0, 8-0 CL) jumped out early by taking the doubles point with help from
Facundo Paredes and
Ivan Antinori at No. 1 and
Ramiro Candia and
Nicolas Doria at No. 3. Each won comfortably 6-4 and 6-2 respectively.
Pablo Gregori tallied first in singles play, making quick work at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-2. The Eagles were able to claw back a point from No. 6 to cut the deficit, but that is all they would claim on the day.
Grace breezed through the remaining matches to secure the victory.
Javier Gallego, No. 2 singles, blanked his opponent in the first set 6-0 and finished off the point 6-3 in the second set. Paredes clinched the match from the No. 1 position 6-1, 6-2.
Two matches went unfinished. Candia was tied at a set apiece heading to a third-set tiebreaker and
Francisco Margaria was on the verge of winning his match 6-2, 5-4.
The Lancers will faceoff against No. 19 Cardinal Stritch at home on Friday, Sept. 16. It will be the fourth match in three days for Grace as they look to remain unbeaten on the season starting at 4 p.m.
