WINONA LAKE, Ind. - The march towards the conference tournament crown continues. Grace's men's tennis team completed the season sweep of St. Francis in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday 6-0.
The Lancers (11-0, 8-0 CL) continue to dominate in all facets. The team point from doubles' play was quickly clinched, though one matchup went unfinished.
Ramiro Candia and
Nicolas Doria blanked their opponent 6-0, followed shortly thereafter by
Javier Gallego and
Pablo Gregori at No. 2 doubles 6-1.
Singles action was more of the same, with Grace taking five points to seal the victory.Â
Francisco Margaria tallied the first point, winning in straight sets 6-1, 6-0. Gallego and Gregori notched the next two points, going unblemished 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 slot and winning 6-1, 6-0 from No. 4.
Candia and Doria sat out singles' play to make way for
David Sandi and
Kye Barrett at No. 3 and No. 6 in the lineup. Each would prevail by a similar scoreline, 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1 respectively.
The final point up for grabs was from the conference player of the week, Paredes, at the top of the lineup. Up 6-4, 2-1 in the second set, his match would go unfinished as Grace had the necessary points to clinch the match.Â
The Lancers move on to the semifinal round to face off against the fourth-seed, Indiana Wesleyan, on Thursday September 22 at Miller Athletic Complex. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
