WINONA LAKE, Ind. - A short-handed Grace volleyball team could not slow down No. 12 Indiana Wesleyan on Wednesday, falling in three sets.
Grace, playing without several members of its starting rotation, was held to 23 kills on a .071 percentage. The Wildcats, on the other hand, had 43 kills at a .351 rate.
The Wildcats (12-2, 5-0 Crossroads League) jumped on Grace early, winning the first six points of the match.
Grace was never fully able to recover in the set and fell 25-11. The Wildcats racked up 17 kills on just two errors.
The second set was closer until the midway point. Grace was within range of IWU, trailing by just four at 16-12. But the Wildcats used six straight points to gain separation and won by 10.
Grace had its best offensive output in the third set, netting nine kills on a .138 percentage. But IWU was even sharper with 15 kills on a .480 percentage.
The Wildcats used a few runs to again pick up separation from Grace, rolling away to a 25-13 win to secure the sweep.
Grace's offense primarily came from Jadyn Ross (eight kills, eight digs), Cassadi Colbert (six kills) and Sahara Bee (six kills).
Livia Tate had a solo block and four block assists, and Riley Owens notched a double-double with 17 assists and 11 digs.
The Lady Lancers welcome another ranked opponent on Friday as Grace hosts No. 3 Marian for a 7 p.m. tilt at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center.
