Grace's men's and women's bowling teams officially kicked off their season this month.
The Lancers are in their second season as a varsity collegiate bowling program, directed by head coach Kirk Wyman.Â
Grace competed at a pair of tournaments over the first two weeks in October.
MIDWEST COLLEGIATE
The Lancers' first tournament of the year came at the Midwest Collegiate, held in Milwaukee, Wis.
Grace's men finished 39th in the massive 42-team event; the women were 34th out of 35 squads.
The women collected 6,482 pins with the men amassing 7,910 pins.
The men were paced by Joey Larison who averaged 188.6 pins per game. Cameron Hyser was not far behind an average of 182 pins.
Erik Haegeland (174 average) and Braydon Kunz (173) had strong showings, and Tyler White bowled a 162 in his lone game.
Tom O'Neil (154 average), Corbin Payne (147) and Michael Wright (146) also contributed for the men's squad.
On the women's team, freshman Madysen Turley bowled in five games and averaged a team-high 167.2 pins per game. Fellow freshman McKenzie Tracy had four games with an average of 159.
Lilly Kelly (146 average) and Kit Sprunger (136) were next in line for scoring average for Grace.
Freshman sisters Bre'Anna Redden (135) and Sarah Redden (131) also made their collegiate debuts, and Cheyenne Clouse (131) posted a score in five games. Madison Anderson (128) scored in two games as well.
COLUMBIA WESTERN SHOOTOUT
Grace's second tournament was the Columbia Western Shootout hosted in Indianapolis. The women's team placed 23rd with the men in 29th.
The men knocked down 8,498 pins across the two-day tournament, while the women tallied 7,100 pins.

Next up, the Lancers will head to West Lafayette, Ind., for the Boilermaker Classic on Oct. 28-29. A few days later, Grace will compete at AHBA #3 in Columbus, Ohio.Â
